This is the third book in the MC Sinners Next Generation
series of which I have not read any prior to this one. Although it was easy to
get the lay of the land and the backstory of the MC I do think it would be
better to have read the series in full.
Skye and Danny have always been close since they were
children in the MC but once they slipped from friendship to lovers things
changed. After witnessing one too many horrific things in the MC, Skye feels
she no longer can be a part of it and urges Danny to move away with her. But
Danny is MC through and through and his aim is to one day be the President with
Skye by his side. When the two are at loggerheads, Danny makes a decision and
Skye moves away.
The story then evolves of the angst and bitterness of the
two living separate lives but never going a day without each thinking of each
other.
With not really knowing the other characters as I have not
read the series I didn’t gel as closely as I usually do in my MC reads. If I
had of known Skye from the start then maybe I would have warmed to her more but
I spent most of the book frustrated to high hell with her. I found her very
immature and annoying. She did kind of redeem herself later and the pair do get
their HEA but after a lot of anger, frustration and eye rolling.
Overall though a good read and I do like Bella Jewel. Just
this one had me gritting my teeth but only due to Skye. Loved Danny though and
the MC brothers. Three and a half stars.
